For this week's assignment, we had to create an interactive document using Google Slides. There were so many options that I found myself getting a little overwhelmed again. Instead of creating something completely new, I decided to follow a tutorial and then use the process I learned to make my own unique document. I began to do this tutorial on Creating an Interactive Presentation but was having some problems. I noticed that an update to the video had been posted, so I tried it again. Here is the tutorial I used:
The second tutorial was better, but there were still a couple of things I had to figure out. When he highlighted multiple items, he did not say how to do that (because it is basic), so I had to google it. Also, he gave instructions on how to create a "back" button to get back to the start, but it didn't work. So I just tried something different and I thought it had worked. Until I embedded the presentation in this post and tested it one last time.
Here is the interactive document I created:
To begin, click on the triangle to play the presentation. Then you can click on any of the circles and it will show you the name of that stage of the butterfly life cycle and a video of the stage. If you click on the "Back" button on any of the pages, it is supposed to go back to the first page. The problem is, if you use the Back buttons, the video links for the caterpillar and chrysalis stages go to the wrong place but if you don't touch the Back button the links are fine. At this point, I can't figure out how to fix it.
Aside from the glitch, I'm really happy with how it turned out.
You should be happy! you covered a lot of difficult skills and problem solved your way through a couple of hurdles that were thrown at you. I like the way you shifted the location of the back button when the video covered up the lower left corner. Good Thinking!

ReplyDeleteHeather, your "Life Circle of a Butterfly" looks amazing. I think it's super easy to follow. I can see myself posting this in Google Classroom and have my students complete some kind of activity individually or in groups with these slides.
ReplyDeleteI love this! This is PERFECT for the life cycle of the butterfly! Your students are going to be very engaged with this!
